In theory, meal prepping SOUNDS appealing for stay

In theory, meal prepping SOUNDS appealing for staying consistent and on track with a healthy diet…until you’re eating the same containers of chicken, broccoli and rice and sick of it by Wednesday 😆

If you’re spending hours in the kitchen prepping meals only to get bored halfway through the week, maybe FOOD prepping is a better alternative 🙌🏻

Here’s how food prepping saves me time during the week AND keeps things interesting:

🥬 Chop and store: I wash and chop veggies and fruits to store in the fridge for easy access. This way I can throw together salads, bowls, smoothies, tacos or snacks quickly

🍚 Cook in batches - when I make rice or quinoa, I cook extra to store in the fridge or freezer. This allows for easy assembly of stir fry or any type of bowl we may be having for dinner. I also roast large batches of sweet potato for breakfasts.

🍗 Cook proteins early in the week - I usually air fry a packet of chicken or cook taco meat once so we can easily add proteins to our meals all week long

While healthy eating does take some time and effort, it doesn’t have to mean hours spent in the kitchen or the same meals every day! Food prep gives you the freedom to stay healthy, keep things fresh and gives our bodies the variety of nutrients that it needs 🌱

Walking is such a fantastic, low impact way to add movement to your day while also helping to boost mood, reduce stress and anxiety, improve digestion and so much more.

✨Helpful tip - if you’re looking to add more steps into your daily routine, try splitting your steps goal into smaller, more attainable chunks. Take a quick walk around the block before work. Get out of the house or office during your lunch break. Make it fun! Walk with a friend or partner after work or listen to your favorite book or podcast.

But the thing is, lasting change doesn’t happen overnight. There’s no quick fix or trend that will help you become a healthier version of yourself. So what CAN you do to kickstart your journey to a healthier you?

✨Start small!

My health coach always used the analogy of crossing a river. The easiest way to cross a river is by stepping from one stone to another that’s close by. If you try to jump from one stone to another that’s too far away, the chances of failing and falling in are much larger.

So, instead of jumping into drastic diet changes, intense workouts or creating huge unrealistic goals for yourself, focus on keeping things SMALL.

✨Want to increase your water intake? Start with one extra glass of water a day instead of 8.

✨Want to become more of a morning person? Wake up 5 minutes earlier instead of setting your alarms hours earlier than normal.

✨Trying to add more steps into your days? Don’t aim for 10,000 when you average 1,000. Instead, add a 5-10 minute walk after dinner.

✨Add one more fruit or vegetable to your normal grocery haul to incorporate into your meals instead of changing your entire list.

Small changes are easier to maintain and you can build on them slowly over time until you reach your desired outcome💪🏻

Start small. Stay consistent. Celebrate every step of the way. You got this 🙌🏻

Wellness is about balance 🗣️

For years I spent countless hours at a time in the gym lifting weights and doing cardio. I scrutinized every single calorie, measuring and weighing my food so I could track it in my app. I restricted myself from foods I loved during the week just to binge at the weekend and punish myself come Monday. And that’s just to name a few…

It took a long time to unlearn all of the things I spent years of my life doing because I thought they were normal and healthy. The vicious cycle of restricting and binging and punishing took a toll on my mental and physical health but I’ve learned that wellness is about doing things that nourish our bodies AND our souls ✌🏻
